Bergamo — Orio Al Serio international airport, third in Italy in terms of the number of passengers carried after Fiumicino and Malpensa, will soon see the completion of the last extension. The project, signed by Studio Architetti Caccia Dominoni — Zucca e Associati — involves an extension of 10,600 square meters, to which an additional intervention of 2,300 square meters will be added.
The area where the works are being carried out is located on the far left of the current airport - to the east - and the new building will be developed on three levels, helping to provide an optimal distribution of space. In fact, it is planned to build five additional country gates in the Schengen area, three new boarding towers, three new baggage collection belts, commercial spaces, offices and infirmary.
Gualini is taking care of the coating, creating sunshades and external glazed facades with uprights and beams with characteristics similar to the pre-existing ones but, at the same time, in line with the high performance required by the building.
