The Ramla area, near Tel-Aviv, will host the Israeli state's new blood bank.
A project of great importance for Magen David Adom, the association that manages the emergency medical service for the Israeli State, as well as the custody of the national blood reserves. The association has commissioned the design of the building to Mochly-Eldar Architects, an architectural firm specialized, among other activities, in the design of buildings intended for public health services.
This new center will allow the Israeli State to increase its reserves of blood units beyond the minimum quantity required by the World Health Organization, in addition to being the first blood bank in the world to have three underground floors that will be protected from seismic risk and from missile and chemical attacks.
The floors above ground will house the auditorium, the teaching rooms, the room for blood donations and restaurant services, while the underground floors will be dedicated to the actual blood bank, with its related laboratories, and will also act as an atomic bunker in the event of attacks on the country.
Gualini is working, together with Winditaly Ltd - a strategic partner on the Israeli market - with the production and installation of continuous facades with structural glass, incorporating support structures for the solar shading system outside the building envelope and the guardroom, and windows inside the underground rooms.
